Komodo, the MovieThe MovieAmazon. Komodo, the Movie, directed by Michael Lantieri. Also available on DVD (1999). This was a low-budget film attempting to capitalize on the success (?) of Anaconda. It went straight-to-video. Experts disagree whether it's so bad it's good, or if it goes even farther into bad territory. Jill Hennessy of "Crossing Jordan" stars. Movie Quotes has preserved the wonderful line "They're getting smarter, or we're getting dumber." This movie is so under-the-radar that the official movie site has already been deactivated. How much could it cost to keep it up? $25 a month? ReviewsAnonymous "Nixflix" review, which gets off some good jabs. "So you have a Creatures Attack movie without a scary creature to attack, with very little ingenuity when it comes to action, and the most cliche of cliched stock villains (the evil oilmen), and you end up with one very boring movie. At least the filmmakers were nice enough to end our misery in just an hour and 25 minutes, and Jill Hennessey is certainly easy on the eyes. Thank God for small miracles, I always say." Stomp Tokyo! (a monster-movie site) has images and some wonderful one-liners against the movie. They do, however, praise the special effects. Review by "Donner" , who gave it a C+. Review-synopsis, with "things to watch for" and memorable lines. This fellow appears to have enjoyed it! Nitpickers (a site for consistency-error nuts) has logged a half-dozen problems with Komodo. ign.com review by Nick Nunziata. "There are two versions of this title on DVD. A bare bones cheap one, and an expensive feature laden one. May I recommend NEITHER?" Ziggy's video realm with a long review. This movie seems to have caused a lot of ink to spill. |
