This table shows data on the guns carried by the AFV, with theoretical penetration (in mm of Armour, angled at 30º from the vertical) at various ranges. This assumes usage of the AP40 (tungsten cored) AP rounds. This weighed less than the AP39 AP rounds, but had a higher muzzle velocity and short-range penetration capability . However, especially in the guns under 75mm, the round did not have the weight to carry the distance so well (remember Potential and Kinetic energy in Physics at school - this is Kinetic Energy !) so that long-range penetration was not so good.
