The Hat Creek Rim Region
Keep a close eye out for adventure while journeying through the Hat Creek Rim region. At several points along the Byway you can visit the banks of Hat Creek, a hot spot for fishing and wildlife viewing.
To learn more about the creek and the region, stop by the Old Station Visitor Information Center to ask about exploring Subway Cave, walking the Spattercone Trail and where to find the seven campgrounds and four picnic areas nestled along 10 miles of the creek. At the Hat Creek Rim Overlook get a good view of the valley that formed when a block of the earth's crust gradually dropped 1,000 feet below what is now the top of the Rim. Adventure awaits off the Byway, with activities like a summertime visit to the West Prospect Fire Lookout.
You can find dining establishments in villages like Old Station or leave the Byway for lodging and dining in Burney.
