Mermaid Pictures, 19th Century

I'm going by a "long" ninteenth century, ending in 1913 or so. The first World War mostly killed-off Mermaids as a major subject of Western art. Or anyway they went into hiding— quite literally in the case of Delvaux's 1942 The Village of the Mermaids. Don't worry, they re-emerged in Boris Vallejo's California.
