IN WW1
THE BRITISH ARMY & THE FIRST WORLD WAR 1914-1918

This part of the Old Front Line contains information on battalions of British Regiments that saw active service in the First World War; it does not include those that only served in England on home service.
For each regiment their WW1 Battle Honours are shown, along with the different battalions and details of the higher formations they served with (Brigades and Divisions). In some cases further information on particularly famous actions, incidents or individuals associated with that battalion are also shown. If a Victoria Cross was awarded to a soldier of the battalion, details are shown. The symbol is a link to Mike Chapman's Victoria Cross Reference site to the page for that man. A (p) against his place and date of award indicates a posthumous VC.
For each regiment there are also details of source material, such as regimental histories, and suggested web links.
You might also find it useful to look at the What is A Battalion? and What is a Brigade and Division? pages.
