Main Sacred TextsOld Testament / Hebrew Bible | Deuterocanon / Apocrypha | New Testament | Koran | LDS / Mormons | Commentaries | Koranic commentary Comment: All biblical links to the New American Bible[1]. I have not linked to the exact verse but to the chapter. Scruitinizing snippets in isolation is no way to read the Bible. Old Testament / Hebrew BibleGenesis 6:9ff., the only continuous narrative account in the Bible. Also: Psalm 29.10; Isaiah 24:5, 24:18, and 54:9; Job 22:15ff.; Ezek. 14:14, 14:20. Translation of Genesis 6:9-11:32 from the Jewish Publication Society's Tanakh, The Holy Scriptures. Nicely formatted; no notes, from the The Jewish Theological Seminary, NY, NY. Deuterocanon / ApocryphaSee also Other Texts for the Book of Enoch and Jubilees, considered cannonical by the Ethiopic Church. Wisdom of Solomon 10:4 and 14:6; Tobit 4:12; Sirach 44:17. New TestamentMatthew 24:38 and Luke 17:26. "In (those) days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away."The notes to the NAB write: "the Old Testament account of the flood lays no emphasis upon what is central for Matthew, i.e., the unexpected coming of the flood upon those who were unprepared for it."Matthew also does not stress their sinfulness, "eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage" are normal human activities, not necessarily depraved ones. Luke adds that in the days of Lot men were "eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building." Also: 1 Peter 3:20, prefiguring baptism, and 2 Peter 2:5. KoranAll references to Noah in the Koran (here "Nuh") from UMich's edition of M. H. Shakir's translation . Most the meat is in 11.27fff. See also this triple translation. I have yet to find an online version of the Koran which is (1) seachable, (2) easy to read, (3) accessible by chapter and verse, eg., with anchor links. If you know of one, please let me know. LDS / MormonsLDS Bible Dictionary with links to LDS scriptures Moses and Ether. CommentariesComment: There are a great many more of these. This currently lacks Koranic commentary. The "Meaning" pages contain a good deal of close analysis of the text. Long list of commentaries from StudyLight.org. Matthew Henry, Commentary on the Whole Bible (1706): Genesis 5ff, Matthew 24, basically contradicting it ("Knew not! Surely they could not but know.") The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia: Deluge of Noah and Ark of Noah (1915). Literalist. Koranic commentaryNotes:
