The American Experience

The American Experience: D-Day. PBS documentary. The program homepage has a complete transcript and a selection of participants' recollections. The program is in the "Guts and Glory" series, which also includes the Battle of the Bulge.

The American Experience: D-Day. Seemingly an earlier version of the website, with different side-features, including The Paratrooper Experience.

The Longest Day

Amazon. The Longest Day, 1962 film based on Cornelius Ryan's book of the same title and starring (among others) John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum, Rod Steiger, Richard Burton.

Web Archive: Learning Guide to The Longest Day from "Learn with Movies." I believe the following assertion to mischaracterize the director's intent:

The movie was made in 1962 at the height of the cold war when the U.S. valued its German ally. It gives a very sympathetic view of the German army, ignoring its complicity in many of the atrocities of the Nazi Regime and the murder by SS troops of allied soldiers taken prisoner during the invasion.

Other
