Maps - Help needed !

This page is currently intended for some research...
Right - I need your help: please consider the following sections of map, and let me know what you find easiest and hardest to read. Keep in mind that I intend to use some form of home-drawn maps (based on accurate data) to illustrate the battle. What is the best format - and does anyone know any good tools I can get (easily) for map-drawing ?

Personally, I think this form of map will be too cluttered. Your thoughts please...

The remaining map sections are reproduced from a map study project at Nottingham University, where they where used for research purposes. Again - your comments please.
