Artillery Training Depot

Return to WW2 artillery

Formed in Néméara, New Caledonia, on 26 July 1943 from personnel of the disbanded 33rd Heavy Regiment and the 28th Heavy Anti-aircraft Regiment. As well as training, the depot produced a weekly newspaper, the Arty Antidote, and arranged sports and entertainment.

Well over 1000 people passed through the depot. On 24 April 1944, the Artillery Training Depot became the Artillery Wing BTD.
