On 10 October 1942, the 152nd Heavy Battery left for Norfolk Island. Personnel were detached from the regiment and did not return to it. The 150th was equipped with 6-in guns; the 151st with 155-mm guns. Units left for New Caledonia in November 1942. The 204th Troop Heavy Anti-aircraft Battery became attached to the 33rd Heavy Regiment in December.

The Regiment was disbanded on 26 July 1943 and personnel were absorbed into the newly formed Artillery Training Depot.
