In February 2003, an Outstanding Service Award was presented to Wally Ruffell (artillery historian and stalwart of the New Zealand Permanent Force Old Comrades' Association for decades) by Brigadier Ray Andrews, Colonel Commandant of the RNZA and Patron of the Association.
