Florence Spearing Randolph (1866-1951) founded the State Federation of Colored Women's Clubs in 1915. Her organizational work with the Federation resulted in a strong and lasting organization. By 1927 when the Federation's official newspaper first appeared, the organization was celebrating its twelve years and recounting its history to that point. This front page of the News displays a photo of President Randolph and an article about the Federation's first annual meeting in 1916.
