Mosaics in Turkey

Just to start you off. Each of these deserves it own page.

Hagia Sophia | Kariye Cami | Antioch | Zeugma

Hagia Sophia

The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (Orthodox) has some excellent photographs from Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya), and some videos (the latter rather tiny).

Kariye Cami

Joe Berk Photography, Kariye Cami. Mr. Berk has links to other beatiful photographs of Turkey, including Turkish Food and Turkish People.

A tour agency page. I found this page with Google's image search. The image from Kariye Cami, of Christ on the inside of one of the domes, is nothing special on the page, but check out the expanded view.

Antioch

Unlike the mosaics in Hagia Sophia or Kariye Cami, the mosaics from Antioch are found in various museums around the world, including one in Antakya (Antioch) itself. Many of these mosaics were included in an exhibit Antioch: The Lost Ancient City, which toured art museums in Worcester, Cleveland and Baltimore, 2000-2001. Ironically, this exhibit is all over the net, while I can't find anything decent on the museum in Antakya itself. This is a shame. I've seen both exhibitions, and the one in Turkey was better.

Amazon. Antioch: The Lost Ancient City , the official exhibit book, edited by Christine Kondoleon. Princeton UP blurb.

The Worchester (MA) Art Museum has some excellent examples.

The Cleveland Museum of Art has many of the mosaics.

The Baltimore Museum of Art.

Scroll down for a photo of the museum in Antakya.
