Barron to Lord Percy "..as described in the letters of ...Cornwallis to Secretary of State:- and ...Gates to Congress.". It is conjectured that this map was not drawn before 1781, after the letters became publicly available. 24 June 1790   Col. David Fanning, makes no mention of the Battle Near Camden in his Narrative of Col. David Fanning.... Fanning was a very active and effective Loyalist partisan commander. Before 1800?   Capt. Tarleton Brown (1757-1845) in Memoirs of Tarleton Brown mentions an imminent battle but never refers to it again. Use control-f and search for "gates". Brown was a Patriot militia officer, serving with Francis Marion and other commanders.
