DELAWARE AND HUDSON
Begun as a canal company connecting the two rivers of the same name, the Delaware and Hudson Railway ran from the Canadian border just south of Montreal to Albany and then down to Binghamton and Scranton, PA. This page shall serve as a pictorial view of the D & H from the mid-1970's until the late 1980's. After the Conrail takeover of the seven northeastern bankrupt railroads in 1976, the Delaware and Hudson was granted extensive trackage rights over portions of the former Lehigh Valley and Erie Lackawanna. It was also granted rights to Harrisburg which eventually were extended as far south as Baltimore, MD.
We will begin in the north and head south. There will be six separate pages covering different sections. Montreal to Albany, Albany to Binghamton, Binghamton are, south to Allentown, PA and the new extensions after 1976.
