British/Commonwealth Armoured Division


Changes - Armoured brigades became homogeneous, dropping the prefixes "heavy" and "light". By WE I/1931 5E/1 wef 22 May 1940 the establishment of an armoured regiment was reduced from five troops to four per squadron leaving 52 cruiser tanks in an armoured regiment. The Royal Engineer element left the Support Group and became division troops under a Headquarters Division Royal Engineers.

Tank establishment of an armoured division was 340 tanks.
