In honor of our favorite holiday, New Jersey History's Mysteries is proud to present five Halloween stories with a historical twist. Have fun!

 

The Old Spye Inn - The history and legends of the haunted landmark in Morgan, New Jersey that was destroyed by fire in 1976 after 276 years of mystery.

The Haunted Restaurant - Is Jimmy's Restaurant in Morristown, New Jersey, haunted? Is the ghostly visitor the murdered servant of the Sayre Family slain in 1833? The story of the murder and the incredible execution of the slayer, as well as some personal experiences is related by L'Aura Muller, co-founder of the New Jersey Ghost Hunters Society.

The Search for the Legendary Blue Hole of the Jersey Pinelands - The NJHM crew travel to the mysterious Pinelands in South Jersey, not in search of the Jersey Devil, but of the Blue Hole, otherwise known as the Bottomless Pit of Beelzbub.

The Rowing Dutchman - The old Dutch tale of the eternal odyssey of Rambout Van Dam on the Hudson River.

Ghosts on the Jersey Shore - Some tales of horrible hauntings along the Jersey Shore written by the famous New Jersey author, Stephen Crane, in 1894.
