As a memorial to The Few - those who fought and died in the Battle of Britain, July-October 1940 - I will be Tweeting details of a pilot killed in the battle throughout the 70th Anniversary from 10 July - 31 October 1940.

kirton1.jpg (55117 bytes) David Kirton was a Sergeant Pilot from Dover, Kent. He was educated at the local County School (now Dover Boys Grammar) and flew a Spitfire with 65 Squadron. He was shot down on 8 August 1940 and is buried in Dover. More on the Dover War Memorials site.
