¹ These individuals subsequently became cavalry officers in the British Legion, commanded by Lt Col Banastre Tarleton. All survived the war except for Captain Christian Huck who was killed in action at Fishing Creek, South Carolina on July 12, 1780.

² John Wilson became a Ensign in the Queen's American Ranger Infantry, with date of rank of September 12, 1777. He was promoted to Lieutenant with date of rank of February 24, 1779. On August 24, 1780 he was transferred to a new Queens Ranger cavalry troop, under Captain John Saunders, and was stationed, with the rest of the troop, at Georgetown, South Carolina, where they engaged in several skirmishes with Marion and his men. The troop had been sent south, as part of the General Alexander Leslie expedition to Virginia, in October 1780. Leslie had subsequently been ordered to continue on to Charleston to reinforce Cornwallis, but the Ranger troop was added to the Georgetown garrison.. They were still in South Carolina at the Yorktown surrender. The troop did not return to New York until April 1782.
