Ban Tarleton has "inspired" a variety of characters in films or on TV, and some of them even bear his name. Although few in number, these interpretations cover the whole spectrum from the ruthless Colonel Tavington (The Patriot) to the polite and gentlemanly Colonel Tarleton of Disney's The Swamp Fox.
