Thure de Thulstrup (1848-1930) was a Scandinavian-born American illustrator, who did work for numerous publications such as The Century Magazine. He frequently illustrated historical subjects.

This illustration appeared in The Story of the American Revolution by Henry Cabot Lodge (2 vols. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1903). It shows Tarleton (on the left) in the distinctive uniform of the 17th Light Dragoons, an idea which had inexplicable popularity in fiction. While his command at Cowpens did include a small detachment of the 17th, he was never a member of that regiment.
