USS Glover
AGDE-1/FF-1098

U.S.S. Glover is the Navys first Escort Research Ship. Her primary mission is to serve as a vehicle to test the advanced anti-submarine equipment, procedures and tactics which may be used on future antisubmarine warfare ships.

U.S.S. Glover was launched on 17 April 1965. The ship was christened in the name of General John Glover of Marblehead, Massachusetts the first Naval Ship-of-the-Line to be named for a U.S. Army officer. Prior to the Revolutionary War General Glover organized his fellow Marbleheaders into a unit known as the Amphibious Regiment which later transported General Washingtons troops across the Delaware. Glover imbues and perpetuates the innovative spirit of her namesake.
