I hiked up the south end. There was some construction debris near where I parked, I hope that is gone now. Up the Gap I went, the hike here was far steeper than at the Tennessee end. A little ways up I found my first gem. This old sign is backed in wood. I can understand that reaching a nice round figure like 1000 feet is something, but the metric equivalent seems silly. Not all the signs along the road are gone, but only the brown park service ones remain. This sign is starting to fall apart, the lower left corner is splintering. The guardrails are rusty, bent in places, missing in others. (Image 13 of 33)
