Formed 17 August 1942 at Grande Vue Camp, Manurewa.

CRA : Brig CSJ Duff, DSO, RNZA

Two staffs co-existed: one for controlling field and anti-tank units, the other for anti-aircraft and coast. The field unit trained at Tirau; the anti-aircraft and coast trained at Pauatahanui.
