Directions

From the Pennsylvania Turnpike, select either:
Exit 25 (Norristown) and follow signs for Germantown Pike East to Plymouth Meeting, Stay on Germantown Pike to the Philadelphia city line, where the Historic Northwest begins.

Exit 26 (Fort Washington) and follow Route 309 South. Exit at Paper Mill Road. Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp, and continue on Paper Mill Road to the third traffic light at the top of the hill. Turn left, then take the first right onto Bethlehem Pike. Germantown Avenue is the second traffic light

From I-95 North:
Take Route 76 Westbound to Exit 32 for Germantown. Follow the overhead signs for Lincoln Drive. From Lincoln Drive, turn right onto Johnson Street for Mt. Airy and Historic Germantown, or right onto Allens Lane for Chestnut Hill. (Watch for the red, white and blue signs.)

From Center City of I-95 South:
Take Route 676 to 76 and follow directions above, or take Kelly Drive to Lincoln Drive and continue as above.

From Route 611:
Continue on Old York Road to the intersection with Cheltenham Avenue. Turn right on to Cheltenham. Turn left at the intersection with Washington Lane. Stay on Washington Lane to Germantown Avenue. Most of the Historic Germantown will be to the left, Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill to the right.

Public Transit:
The communities of the Historic Northwest are well served by public transportation. Two commuter rail lines (R7 and R8) parallel to Germantown Avenue on the east and west. Surface Route 23 connects the communities along Germantown Avenue.
