Girls and Women at Work

In this elementary learning activity, students will be exposed to a variety of ways in which women, girls and their families helped to shape New Jersey's history.  From working in homes, strawberry fields, factories to research laboratories, women and girls have been an integral part of how New Jersey developed into a major agricultural and industrial center for our nation.

While exploring this activity you will develop an understanding of gender and class differences.

On the left are important topics through which you may investigate women's and girl's involvement in New Jersey's history.  Activities for these topics will be developed in the future.
