"The
Manumission of Ann and Rufus Johnson," two manuscript
documents from Belvidere, Warren County, freeing
a married slave couple in 1828 and verifying the birth dates
of their four children and the years in which these children
would be free from the legal obligation to work for the
Johnsons’ former mistress.
