the study of warfare, what tends to stand out is the grandiose picture
of giant air or sea battles, or of plains filled with rumbling tanks
desperately trying to get the edge over their enemy counterparts. |
History
has shown us, though, that the battle is never truly won until the lowly
infantryman has occupied and pacified the enemy's ground. |
In
this section we will explore the tools of that common infantryman, the
weapons he used to both stay alive and win the day. We will cover everything
from pistols to PIATs to mortars. |
