AUXILIARY ALTERNATOR CONTROL PANEL
AMMETER
The ammeter reads any of three A/C phase currents selected by movement of the ammeter selection switch. It registers the current out of the alternator connected to the 480-volt circuit at the time. Scale range is 0-1000 amps RMS.
VOLTMETER
The voltmeter reads any A/C line-to-line voltage between any of the tree phases. It is a direct-reading meter having a range of 0-600 volts. The voltage regulator of this system maintains 480 volts in STANDBY mode of operation and 512 volts in PASSENGER RUN.
PHASE LIGHTS (White)
The two phase lights indicate at a visual glance that all three phases are operating. When one light is on it indicates single phasing which must be corrected immediately.
NOTE : Auxiliary power must be taken "off the line" after it has been determined that one phase is actually out, after checking with voltmeter transfer switch. (See VOLTMETER TRANSFER SWITCH)
The lights do not indicate that the main breaker is closed.
NOTE : All pilot lights except phase lights have "push to test" feature to determine if the light bulb is burned out.
TRAINLINE COMPLETE LIGHT (Yellow)
This light indicates when all trainline power jumpers are properly connected.
