a Weekly Newsreport on the War Situation
'Der Krieg - Illustrierte Chronik des Krieges' ('the War - an Illustrated War Chronicle') was a small-sized weekly publication. Aside from reporting war news and printing maps of the military situation, it contained several regular features such as technical articles on the means and methods of modern warfare and a very interesting regular article series called 'der Sammler' - ('the Collector'). Quite detailed and arcane summaries were published on all kinds of collectables having to do with the Great War : trench newspapers, prisoners-of-war magazines, kitsch-romantic postcards, commemorative war-porcelaine and so on. It is interesting to note that even with the war still undecided, collectors were already busy expanding their acquisition of collectables and war-memorabilia.
