'Le Monde illustrée' (the Illustrated World), was a weekly French newsmagazine of quality. It was modeled after 'l'Illustration' and the classy British news-weeklies 'London Illustrated News', 'the Sphere' and 'the Graphic', though overal 'le Monde Illustrée' did not make much use of illustrations, relying otherwise heavily on the more modern medium of photography.
