an ordinary front page
While 'le Bulletin des Armées de la République' was not a news magazine in the sense that it was printed and distributed freely among soldiers of the French armed forces during the war, it was however a very important source of news for both the military and civilians. It contained official comminqués and general news items, orders of the day, lists of citations for bravery and gallantry and also games, puzzles, jokes, humor and tid-bits for soldiers in general. The classical front page illustration was done by French artist Bernard Naudin.
