It's a Jungle up here.....
Photos of the
Yankee Network's Building atop Mount Washington.
1963 view of building on the left, 40 years later on the right
(2003).
Home to northern New England and the state of New Hampshire's first
FM station.
The building originally occupied in 1942 by W39B, as Yankee's FM
station.
Calls would become WMTW, ending as WMNE, when Yankee ceased
operations on the mountain in 1948.

Increasingly,
the building has become a major hub for wireless services, FM
broadcasting returning
to Yankee in the form of WPKQ. The recent WMTW-TV
building(s) fire forced
some of
Yankee Microwave's facilities, as well as others, to
relocate in Yankee. WHOM was temporarily
here in Yankee, before moving into it's new home on the mountain.
Photo on the right shows increase in point-to-point
communications as well as WPKQ antenna.
