8 North Main Street

Stoves and Tinware

The sign in front of 8 North Main Street reads "Stoves and Tinware". The buildings to the left and right still exist. The building on the right, 10 North Main Street, was owned by the Mercer Mutual Corporation.

From around 1960 to around 2006, this was the Pennington Barber Shop (owned by Don and Stan). This was the place for men to come, sit around, gossip, joke and, oh yes, to get a haircut. The building looks quite different, with the entrance on the right to the shop and an entrance on the left to the second floor apartment.
