CONFEDERATE RAILROADS:  MISSISSIPPI CENTRAL

The antebellum Mississippi Central Railroad ran northeasterly from Canton (Mississippi) to Jackson, Tennessee.  Within Tennessee, the MsC ran from the state line near Grand Junction (where it connected with the Memphis & Charleston) to Jackson (where it connected with the Mibile & Ohio).  The MsC was the scene of several military actions during 1862 and 1863 (see Railroad-Associated Military Events of the Civil War).
