We enjoy a temperate maritime climate; weather patterns can change quickly however, so you should come prepared for a variety of possibilities. Bring warm, wind proof and waterproof clothing, good walking or hiking footwear as well as summer clothing. In May, June and early July, temperatures may be unexpectedly cool, especially if there is an onshore wind.

If travelling later in the year, you may find Newfoundland is unexpectedly warm in the fall. September can be one of our better months.

Summer Temperatures:

• Days: 15-20 degrees Celsius
• Nights: 10-15 degrees Celsius

Temperatures on the Northern Peninsula are generally cooler than other areas of the province.
