Mr. McMichael,

My father is a US Navy world war 2 vet that served aboard the destroyer escort USS Martin, hull #30, in the pacific from 1943-45. I have searched the entire web looking for any info on the ship's history, conflicts it encountered, if and when it was decommissioned.

I must admit, your site is the only one that list's it. If you could possibly give me any information, pictures, or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Steve Carlton

Steve, the answer to your question is the set of books "Dictionary of American Fighting Ships" which is published by the US Government and sold in most US Government Bookstores which are usually located in Federal Buildings. The book set should also be found in your local library (although you may have to order it.) If you want to type the entry for your ship into email I can easily cut and paste it into the ships page :)

Richard McMichael
