          Displacement:  2,425 tons (3,300 tons full load)
          Length:        390 feet 6 inches
          Beam:          40 feet 10 inches
          Draught:       14 feet 4 inches (mean)
          Machinery:     four Babcock & Wilcox boilers;
                         2-shaft G.E.C. geared turbines
          Performance:   60,000 shp for 35 knots
          Bunkerage:     740 tons
          Range:         4,500 nautical miles at 20 knots
          Guns:          four 5 inch, 38 cal., four 3 inch, 50 cal.

Subject: missing dd

Hi, I'm a retired BTC who is wondering what ever happened to the USS Basilone DD-824. This was my first ship and if it wasn't decomed out from under me in 1977, I would have retired off it!!

I would be grateful for any info on her.

I was on the USS Basilone from June '75 until May '77, just a few months before she was decommissioned. The only contact on the Basilone page (the retired BTC) cannot be contacted. I have a cruise book, some photo's, memories, and a lot of questions. If I can be of any assistance in providing anything that would benefit the Basilone's page please let me know.
