Launched: October 31, 1936
Commissioned: August 16, 1937
Decommissioned:  August 29, 1946
Fate: After being used as target practice in the Bikini atomic tests, she was retained for experiments in decontamination.   She was finally sunk off Kwajalein March 22, 1948.

who enlisted in the Navy 3 April 1939, was assigned to the USS Mugford 12 Dec 1939, after "Boots" in Newport, R.I. and EM school in San Diego.  He left the Mugford from Sydney, Australia, 9 April 1943, EM 1/c at the time.  He returned to the States, commissioned the USS Lovering DE-39, spent a year on-board, returned to the States, and finished out his time as Instructor at Camp Perry, Virginia.  He was released from the Armed Services 14 Sep1945 as Chief Electrician's Mate.
