The Charles F. Adams ( DDG ) Class
|
The Charles F. Adams class of missile destroyers was one of the more
elegantly designed classes of destroyers ever built. It's design grew
out of the Forrest Sherman class and was originally designed as a
Forrest Sherman with one five inch gun being replaced by a Tartar
missile launcher. As built however, it had a considerably larger hull.
The Destroyers OnLine (DOL) Associate webmaster handling all pages and e-mails concerning the Charles F. Adams Class destroyers is Jack Atkinson. We are seeking information on Charles F. Adamsclass destroyers and their crews. Files, photos and stories may be e-mailed to us.

"Save the USS Charles F. Adams DDG-2"
"SaginaValley Naval Ship Museum"
Please spread the word at your reunion about the efforts of
The SaginawValley Naval Ship Museum's efforts to bring the
CFA to Bay City,Michigan as a museum.
Bay City, Michigan is the home of the Defoe Shipbuilding Company.
Defoebuilt four (4) DDG's for the US Navy and three (3) for the
Australian Navy. The shipyard is now closed. We feel that the
Navy life of a DDG Sailor should be preserved for the future
generations of this country. Many DD's from WWII have been
preserved but, none of the more modern ships have had the same
opportunity to become museums.
Please let your shipmates know of our efforts. We need
the support of every Adams Class Sailor, both moral and
monetary. If anyone would like more information or would
like to send a tax-deductible contribution, please send to:
