South Dakota

RVD: This state has too many mottos and too strong a desire to re-image itself to suit me. Is this the Sunshine State? No, that's Florida. The Coyote State? Sounds more like Arizona, even if they are the State Animal. In the 1990's, they came up with "The Mount Rushmore State." Well, okay. But four profiles on a route marker got busy. The next targets: The State Seal and Flag. Now this we can work with. I stole the sunburst from them and the blue background, and placed them on a circle cut-out blank.

From Ryan E. Hague: Hey, what else is S.D. known for?

From Gene Van: The current design of the South Dakota route sign makes use of the state shape, but the square signs leave the state shape too stubby. I simply used the wide-sign version of the state shape and added the state name to fill the top of the sign.
