CCS: Three signs that can be used on freeways in Europe: The E-Route sign has the Union symbol on it, that along with the "Exx" number. A simple way of stating the case, I think. The other two are specific freeway signs that use the flattened hexagon and international symbol for freeways.
From Jedidiah: Try this shield for Europe. For the route numbering how about starting from the International Date Line (1 - Western Alaska) to the next International Date Line (999 - East Coast of New Zealand) for the North and South Routes (odds) and connecting the North and South Poles starting at (2 - Along Antarctica) to (1000 - Along the Arctic Ocean) for the East and West Routes (evens) to go along with the grid of the Earth.
From Albert Calis: Got the idea from combining ideas from CCS's shields. A square variation of the current European highway shield, with the EU stars and freeway symbol.
