From J.P. Kirby : No matter how much others like it, I can't stand the current Colorado highway marker, as it seems to de-emphasize the number. My redesign is somewhat based on the license plate, somewhat on the E-470 shield. I have added ice-caps to the mountains as well.
CCS : As much as I like the current sign, it has it's problems with bleaching. I think these are a suitable substitute - there's more space for the number, and the license-plate theme is reasonably familiar for more than a few people.
From Ryan E. Hague : I put the Rocky Mountains in purple up against the late evening / early night sky. I personally like the look.
From Albert Calis: I really liked how the E-470 shields look, compared to the standard, yet boring, Colorado shields. Here's my design, which is a combination design of the existing state route shield and the E-470 shield. I used the same font and the same "mountain" as the E-470 shield, but I included the Colorado state flag inside the mountain design, and I changed the shield coloring, so as to not confuse it with the E-470 shield.
