READING COMPANY

NORRISTOWN LINE

This line generally followed the Schuykill River in a northwest direction.  This line also carried all passenger trains heading to Reading and north to Pottsville.  Typically, the only stop made by these through trains was at DeKalb Street, in Norristown.

At this point all trains to Reading swung over across the river to join the mainline west.  Local trains continued two more stops in Norristown.  This extension actually extended through to Lansdale, but was only used by local freights.
