This page will cover my visit to the CP yard in Montreal on October 6, 1976.  Having secured a release from the railroad offices, I attempted to record as much as possible, particularly the Alco, rather the MLW, units.  Fortunately the engine facility was full of them.

cp8478StLuc.jpg (53429 bytes)    cp8789StLuc.jpg (77291 bytes)  These first two images are of two units still in the original gray and maroon scheme.  Both units are RS-18's and were still in service at the time.

cp1405StLuc.jpg (61611 bytes)    cp1409StLuc.jpg (53837 bytes)    cp4069StLuc.jpg (59857 bytes)    cp4034StLuc.jpg (73251 bytes)    cp1413StLuc.jpg (58892 bytes)    Some F7A cab units.  The 1413 is a passenger FP7.

cp5541StLuc.jpg (44604 bytes)  The SD40 was the backbone of CP's road fleet and the railroad had hundreds of them.

cp4228StLuc.jpg (53188 bytes)  M424 4228.  Typically these units worked on the east end of the railroad.  cp4249StLuc.jpg (52406 bytes)  4249.

cp4505StLuc.jpg (116666 bytes)   A big M636 and a cp4720StLuc.jpg (89502 bytes)  M630 at the shop area.

cp8025StLuc.jpg (89989 bytes)  A line up of switchers, all MLW units.      cp8753StLuc.jpg (77960 bytes)  A RS-18 and a F7B unit.

cp8460StLuc.jpg (74714 bytes)  While many RS-2 and RS-3's were being removed from service this chopped nose unit still worked the yard.

cp4095StLuc.jpg (66214 bytes)   cp4084StLuc.jpg (84749 bytes)    CP_MLWDeadLineStLuc.jpg (74659 bytes)  A real find was this line up of retired MLW cab units.

cp8448StLuc.jpg (51913 bytes)   A long line of retired RS-2 and RS-3 units.

cp8430StLuc.jpg (69805 bytes)  A few veteran RS-3's continued to hang in, but their days were numbered.

cpStLucEngineTerminal.jpg (87466 bytes)  I'll finish off my 1976 visit with a view of the service area with a mixed bag of units.

cp4712StLuc87.jpg (77065 bytes)     cp4718StLuc87.jpg (77632 bytes)  Another visit in 1987 yielded a few shots of the big MLW's still in service.

cp1630StLuc87.jpg (80688 bytes)  Chop-nosed GP9 1630 pulls a cut of cars out of the entrance to St Luc yard in 1987.
