This page will cover my visit to the CP yard in Montreal on October 6, 1976. Having secured a release from the railroad offices, I attempted to record as much as possible, particularly the Alco, rather the MLW, units. Fortunately the engine facility was full of them.
These first two images are of two units still in the original gray and
maroon scheme. Both units are RS-18's and were still in service at the
time.
Some F7A cab units. The 1413 is a passenger FP7.
The SD40 was the backbone of CP's road fleet and the railroad had hundreds of
them.
M424 4228. Typically these units worked on the east end of the
railroad.

A line up of switchers, all MLW units.
A RS-18 and a F7B unit.
While many RS-2 and RS-3's were being removed from service this chopped nose
unit still worked the yard.
A real find was this line up of retired MLW cab units.
A long line of retired RS-2 and RS-3 units.
A few veteran RS-3's continued to hang in, but their days were numbered.
I'll finish off my 1976 visit with a view of the service area with a mixed bag of
units.
Another visit in 1987 yielded a few shots of the big MLW's still in service.
