December 7-9, 2001 - Fort Concho (San Angelo Texas) - Winter Rendezvous. This is the largest Indian Wars living history exhibit in Texas. All time periods from the 1850’s through 1898 are welcome. December 1, 2001 - San Jacinto Battleground State Park, Texas - The USS TEXAS will host a Yuletime event on board the ship. The 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry, Troop K ("Rough Riders") will be aboard portraying soldiers being ferried to the Philippines and will be occupying two cabins (one for the Troop's captain, and one for the enlisted men). December 8–9, 2001; Dallas Texas- Candlelight at Old City Park.This annual event is a very relaxed weekend at Dallas’ reconstructed 19th century village. The park opens at 5pm and closes at 9pm. The old homes and shops are decorated for Christmas. Company K, 2nd Texas Infantry will be setting up a small camp, where its members will recruit, and "talk history". This is a great family event. August 2-4, 2002 - San Pedro, California - Fort MacArthur - The annual
event of the United Spanish American War Society concerning the Santiago
Campaign will be held, hosted by the Spanish War 1898 Inc. The event will
include an encampment, living history, battle re-enactments, as well as
public displays and presentations. This is open to all artillery,
infantry, and cavalry units and to all U.S., Spanish, Cuban, and Civilian

Beginning March, 1998: Ybor City, FL - In the heart of the Latin District, the Ybor City Campus of Hillsborough Community College has a FLORIDA HISTORY INTERNET PROJECT. Starting in March there will be a special section of the Project dedicated to the war, including VIRTUAL TAMPA 1898, VIRTUAL YBOR CITY 1898, VIRTUAL PORT TAMPA 1898 etc.... the site will have guided tours of the remaining buildings and sites of the Spanish-American War. Beginning October 1, 2001 - Camp Shelby, Mississippi - As a prelude to its main exhibits on Mississippi military history of the 20th and 21st centuries, the Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby is including a small adjunct exhibit on the Spanish American War. The exhibit will include a complete uniform of a lieutenant in the 2nd Mississippi Infantry (including sword). Also on display will be several orders for muster and calls for volunteers issued by officers in the Mississippi regiments, firearms (Krag-Jorgensen rifle and carbine)as well as photos, texts, maps and film. The theme of the exhibit is to educate the public about the U.S. becoming an imperial power, and the long-term effects of this action on the U.S. in the 20th and 21st century. Beginning October 19, 2001 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Independence Seaport Museum will open its new permanent entitled "OLYMPIA."
