A gun from the ALMIRANTE OQUENDO
This gun, removed from the ALMIRANTE OQUENDO
rests in the village park in Palmyra, New York, the hometown of Admiral
William Sampson. Sampson commanded the squadron which engaged the Spanish
at the Battle of Santiago, though Sampson and
his flagship were too far away to take an active part in the battle.
