The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston has an incredible collection of Japanese woodblock prints & photographs regarding the Russo-Japanese War which they have graciously shared online. Many of these represent naval themes and are well worth a look. These images may be enlarged to an 800x800 resolution.

One of the most interesting points regarding the Mikasa's preservation is the involvement of American Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. According to a brief biography of the Admiral, after 1951 he improve Japanese/American post-war relations by helping to raise funds for the restoration of the Mikasa.
