Phil Walker, the Fort Collins native whose work has been critically aclaimed, has been:
" Visions Along the Poudre Valley is not history as you learned it in school, but it is the true story of the Poudre Valley. Most of the history of Fort Collins and Larimer County has been anecdotal in form with tales of individuals or events that have been told and retold over the years. They are good stories, but they exist in little vacuums with nothing to tie them to the broader tapestry of our history." ---Phil Walker
Phil Walker entertained crowds of visitors, telling the true history of the Poudre Valley, putting together the stories like a giant jigsaw puzzle, the story of Jack Slade, the "Poudre Valley Legend", and his wife, Virginia Dale, for whom the station was named, and other tales of the Virginia Dale Overland Trail Stage Station. Many thanks to Mr. Walker, who was available for book signings and conversation at the 1996 Virginia Dale Open House.
