Because we are all so familiar with houses, it is a common misconception that residential architecture is relatively straight forward and simple. In reality, the making of a home is a complex task. It requires a multitude of disciplines. Dale Mulfinger, a partner at Sala Architects, Inc., and Andrea Warchaizer of Springpoint Design, are teaming up to present a week long design seminar that will describe contemporary techniques and methodologies of residential timber frame construction. Each student will have the opportunity to design a timber framed home from start to finish, working with models and drawings to understand the design in three dimensions. You will discover both the design opportunities and challenges of building with big timbers. A combination of lectures, workshops, slide presentations, and house tours will round out the week. No previous design experience is required.

Taught by Dale Mulfinger and Andrea Warchaizer
